Marjo Poutanen
Principal Lecturer

Dr Poutanen is target-oriented Developer of Education with demonstrated knowledge in Science and Research. Besides Education Development, she is skilled in R&D and Cosmetic Chemistry. She is a well-known speaker and trainer in the cosmetic field in Finland.

Her academic background is in analytical and organic chemistry, biochemistry and pharmacy. She holds a PhD in chemistry, focusing on mass spectrometry and proteomics. She also holds Pedagogical Qualification in occupational education.

Her special fields of interest are education development and co-operative projects with companies, associations and communities.
Dr Poutanen has been recognized as innovative, enthusiastic and co-operative colleague. She has an inspiring and open attitude towards new opportunities and challenges.

Sharon Lim
Formulation Scientist

Sharon has been a member of the SCANCOS board since November 2018. She graduated with a PhD in Medical Science from Karolinska Institute, Sweden in 2013.

Sharon is currently working at Perrigo Nordic (previously known as ACO Hud Nordic AB) as a product developer and a safety assessor. She has 3 years of research experience from Karolinska Institute prior to joining Perrigo Nordic.

Mia Holden
Product Developer

Mia has been a member of the SCANCOS board since November 2018. She has a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where she graduated in 2014.

Mia has worked as a product developer at Orkla Home & Personal Care since 2014 before recently moving on to be a project manager in the same company.

Tom Hornshøj-Møller

Independent Consultant 

Tom rejoined the Board in November 2018 (were on the Board 2011-2014). Tom is civil engineer in technical chemistry from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet, 1986.

Since graduation, Tom has always been working in different positions under the headline “R&D” – since 2004 within the field of personal care products as employed and as consultant. Has been and still are part of several juries awarding green/sustainable ingredients (IN-Cosmetics, Sustainable Cosmetic summit and others) and having presentations on behalf of Ecocert and/or COSMOS. Not yet dead still trying to push boarders.

Sahar Ashkar

Product Developer and Project Manager

She holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with focus on pharmaceutical development from Uppsala University. Since graduation in 2007, Sahar has been working in different positions. She started as an analytical chemist working with pharmaceutical analysis and then moved to product development within medical device and working with personal care products for few years at different company’s such as Moberg Pharma and CCS.

Since 2015 Sahar is working at Perrigo as a product developer with focus on sun care and since the beginning of 2021 now has taken on a role as product developer and project manager at Orkla Wound Care.

Caroline Thunstedt
COO

Chemical engineer from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Master’s degree in molecular science and technology. Started master thesis project with the Royal Institute of Technology and IDUN Minerals in 2014. The purpose of the project was to study the surface of the nail, its composition and the effect from using products on it. The project resulted in IDUN Minerals nail polish collection, launched spring 2015. Since then in charge of all product development projects at IDUN Minerals and from the beginning of 2018 also the director for all international sales. In 2020 Caroline entered a new role as Chief Operating Officer in charge of the overall strategies of the brand as well as the daily operations. Priorities include sustainable packaging materials and the life cycle of the products as well as a high focus on ingredients and their functions on the skin. Caroline hopes to bring not only her knowledge about Cosmetics chemistry to the board but also a wider perspective of the market and its trends, challenges and needs. Aside from education in chemistry, Caroline is also a trained makeup artist.

Customer Innovation & Technical Support Director.

Dr Johanna Borné has more than 15 years’ international experience in product innovation, R & D management and business development. She holds a PhD from Lund University, Sweden, in Chemical Engineering, Lipid Chemistry and is a member (fellow) of Royal Society of Chemistry.
